I am proud of all the soldiers that serviced and who will fight know more but I am also sad for how they died. I enjoy learning about the ANZAC history.
This is Room 11's blog (class of 2012). 11Online/2012 gives us a chance to write for an actual audience (reality writing). The main goal is to improve our writing over the year. We will continue to proof read, edit and improve our posts even after they have been posted. Stoke War Memorials
By Georgia
People build war memorials to remember and honour the soldiers who died in World War One and World War Two. They are a place where people go on Anzac Day. There are over 500 War memorials around New Zealand and Stoke has two memorials. They are the Stoke Memorial Hall and the Stoke War Memorial Gates.
The Stoke War Memorial Gates show that Stoke has one family with a great war history. The Ching family were very brave. One of the Ching family died in World War One. His name is listed on one side of the gates. Three more family members died in World War Two, three brothers. Later another Ching family member built the Stoke Memorial Hall.
