Number 1 all of the tryathlets from Stoke School!
Swim, bike, run and WIN! On the 4th of March every year the Weetbix tryathalon comes to Nelson then travels around New Zealand. The Weetbix tryathalon is a fun event for your children bring your bike, running shoes, togs and yourself at Tahunanui at the cost of $35 a child. The first thing you do is the swim then you run up to your bike and go for a bike ride then you ride back to where you came in to get your bike and do the run. When you come to get your bike you dry your feet and put your shoes, socks, Weetbix top and your helmet on then walk your bike to the road and ride it 4km then you hop of your bike and do the run to the finish line to get your gold medal. If your school gets a certain amount of people then your school gets a free breakfast on the day and our school got the free breakfast which we could have before the tryathalon or after the tryathalon. After the tryathalon they have a meeting with everybody and give away free prizes. Some of the schools get some vouchers for P.E gear or go in the draw for a new playground our school is in the draw for the new playground. Their were 15,503 children their doing the tryathalon on the day but with the parents, grandparents, cousins and aunty's and uncles their were probably about 18,673. Their are people that are their that tell you what way to go and to make sure your safe. for the bike your on the road but they shut it of so its not dangerous, when you are doing the swim the water is not over your head and their are people in the water and on kayaks so it is totally safe. also in the water you wear a cap and every age have a different colour cap. You can do it by yourself or in a team. I did it by myself and so did Anna, Georgia and Julia, Toria did it in a team with Shimya. Everyone has a different number you have to write your number on your right arm and left leg. Their are people taking photos that go on to the Weetbix tryathalon website and when you cross the finish line they take a video of you and that also gets put on the website if you want to see yourself crossing the finish line you get a time at the end and that's the time that you look for on the website. You have to get up at 6:00am or 6:30am because your bikes have to be in the bike area at 8:15am so you have to kind of be their at 7:00am the Weetbix tryathalon starts at 9:00am. Their were 12 schools from Nelson. After the tryathalon every one from Stoke School had a sausage. It was a great day!!

Good job Olivia! You are a very accurate writer (spelling, punctuation and grammar). This makes it very easy for the reader to follow (understand) your writing. Paragraphs make it even easier - you should try it!
ReplyDeleteLots of interesting ideas and heapos of details. More personal comments (eg, I had goosebumps at the starting line) and expressive/descriptive language ("2503 courageous and committed kids turned up to do the tryathlon) would have added even more interest for the readers.
Great expressive title and beginning sentence by the way Olivia
