On the 20th of march 2012 I had my 1st fracture at gym. It happened when I did a round off which is just doing a cartwheel but landing with 2 feet, into a back flip with hands & when I landed on the ground I landed with my finger bent backwards really fast. After I did it I couldn't feel anything except pain & pins & needles. It really hurt. The coaches thought it was dis-located & wanted to pull it back into place but I wouldn't let them because I was to scared that would accidentally ingure my finger. So instead they called my mum to pick me up & they suggested her to take me to the hospital just in case to be safe.
When me, mum & my brother joshua went to the hostpital I felt really nervouse because the lady at the counter looked really mean but she ended up to be really nice. After 10 long minutes my friend kayla from gym came to the same nelson hospital because she badly hurt the side of her arm from a roundoff flick flack just before me. The receptionist lady gave me a medical bracelet for when I got an x-ray for the x-ray lady to know who I am. Then a while after Kayla came our gym coach came to see if we were both o.k. After the receptionist lady gave me my medical bracelet she told us to follow the stripped red lines on the ground & it would lead us to the x-ray room. In the x-ray room the x-ray lady pulled a big machine overtop of my hand & took some shots. After we went back to the waiting room. Then after 5 minutes the doctor came out & told us to follow him. He led us to an office & gave us 1 of the x-ray pictures. He also told us that my finger wasn' t dis-located it was just fractured which means part of a bone in my finger was chipped off. Then he bandaged up my hand & taped it then he told me to keep it on for 2 weeks & not go to gym until it is May 2012. On the 23rd of March my finger started to bruise all over my finger & started to turn purple, green & black. It also started to swell up really huge. I hope it gets better.
BE CAREFUL TO NOT FRACTURE ANY PART OF YOUR BODY!!!

Shimya, this is a great post! You provide such good detail about your experience. I really like the way you include a safety message.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you write Shimya. You have a knack of including all the background information for the reader but never too much. Your writing is honest and full of personal comments ("I felt really nervous because the lady looked really mean."). You are also using language precisely
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you starting to use paragraphs. Keep working on your paragraphs (1 main idea with relevant details added for interest = 1 paragraph).
