Party & Dunedin

On Saturday the 24th of March, my mum was going to Dunedin. She wanted to go so she could see our Great Grandad because he was really sick. Mum, my brother Josh and I had to wake up at 6:00am because we had to walk to our Auntys so she could look after me and Josh.

We had to walk to our Auntys because we don't have a car. That's why me and Josh couldn't go to Dunedin with our mum. Walking to Auntys place took about an hour. After we got to Auntys it was round about 8:40 and Mum needed to walk to the airport to be there by 9:05 so she left just as we got there. Before she left we said goodbye and then she left.

When we went into the house it was really noisy. Our auntie has a one year old baby girl called Lily, a three year old boy toddler called Malachai, also a five year old boy called Cameron, who just turned five on the 25th of March, and a 6yr old girl called Akiana. WHAT A FULL HOUSE!

On that very day it was Cameron's birthday party at McDonalds. Me and Josh had to go in one of my auntys friends car because we couldn't fit in her van. When we were at McDonalds all the kids that were at the party went outside and played on the play ground. It took ages for the food to be served out. I ordered a happy meal that had 6 nuggets and a packet of chips. After every one had finished eating it was time to play games then open presents and then eat the cake. It was a funtastic day.

The only thing I don't like most of all is that ..... I miss my mum!

  2. Oh my goodness, what a busy day you had! Your mum must be very proud of how responsible you were that day. I hope your mum's flight went well, and your great grandad is ok.
I loved that part in your story where you said "WHAT A FULL HOUSE!", it reminded me of when I was little at my nans house with all of my cousins.
Keep up the fantastic writing Shimya, I will show it and this fantastic blog to the kids at my school.

    2. Tena rawa atu koe Marama. Nga mihi maioha ki a koe mo au kupu aroha ma Shimaya. Koia ano he tipua, he taniwha, te kotiro nei - pera tonu i a koe te ahua nei. Thank you again, I appreciate your support for Shimya whom we are all very proud of here at Stoke School!

  3. Shimaya, you have no idea how much this post speaks to my heart. Like Marama it reminds me of growing up in my very large whanau (Nan's and Koro's house was always filled with a village of us at Christmas).

This is not your most accurate writing but the way you write so personally, you make the reader care about you and Josh (even though that isn't what you were trying to do). I know it's hard without Mum but how you feel about her is probably the same as how Mum feels about her grand dad. Kia maia Shimya!
