I think we needed to spend more time building up the actual castle and less time on the walls. We thought the walls would help protect the castle from the incoming tide but we were so wrong! The walls only lasted 7-8 batterings from the surf.

Tahunanui Beach Trip
This sandcastle was built by Ngawhatu House (the green machine). It looked the most impressive out of all of the sandcastles built by the four Stoke School houses but it was the first to be eaten by the sea.
I think we needed to spend more time building up the actual castle and less time on the walls. We thought the walls would help protect the castle from the incoming tide but we were so wrong! The walls only lasted 7-8 batterings from the surf.

The whole school went to the beach?
ReplyDeleteYes, the whole school goes to the beach for the day at the beginning of the school year. We usually go to a place called Rabbit Island but our city was hit by heavy flooding at the end of last year and most of the picnic areas at the island are still closed. This year we went to Tahunanui Beach instead, which is the main Nelson city beach.
